Cell 3.47 was situated on the third floor of B wing in Stocken Gate prison, slap bang in the heart of Londonโs east end. Known as The Gate, the prison had a reputation for being a tough place to do time. The inmates behind the doors at The Gate endured long cold winters in the Victorian slammer that had been condemned many times but had always escaped closure.
